This post will show you how to reset the HP Photosmart C8180 all-in-one printer. We use an “Ink System failure Error message” as an example. However, this type of reset can also clear out some other error messages that may show on your printer screen.
Before doing any reset on the printer. You might want to power cycle your C8180 printer first and see if that clears the issue. If the error still persists, then you may proceed to resetting the printer.
To reset the printer, you’ll have to access the hidden menu on the printer panel, which can be access by doing the ff:
- Turn ON the printer.
- Press and Hold the “Print Photos” & “Red Eye Removal” buttons.
- Release both buttons.
- You will see a new screen that says, “Enter Special Key Combo”… The Key combo is:
- Pressing and releasing in sequence the “Red Eye Removal”, “Print Photos”, and then “Red Eye Removal”
- Scroll through the menu by Pressing the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration Menu”. Go into that menu and look for “Hardware failure status”. Press OK to clear… if you still see the message, click “Cancel” repeatedly until the message is gone.
There are more options inside the hidden menu including several other types of resets like a partial, semi-full, and full resets. You may want to do these as well if your printer issue still persists.
